Prisma Health laying off 265 in Greenville, says employees have a chance to work at a new company

Prisma Health is laying off environmental services positions, but a press release from the healthcare provider says workers will have a chance to be hired by Compass One Healthcare, a new contract company.

A July 13 SC Department of Employment and Workforce (SCDEW) report lists 689 Prisma Health positions facing permanent layoffs, with 265 of those EVS positions in Greenville County, 41 in Oconee County and 33 in Pickens County.

Nearly 100,000 Georgians kicked off Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids in June, state says

Georgia’s June 1 deadline for Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids redetermination deadlines came and went.

The Georgia Department of Community Health released data on the number of Georgians who lost coverage Wednesday, showing nearly 100,000 people lost their health coverage.

Another nearly 57,000 people remain pending and will keep their coverage, for now, while their eligibility is determined.

Health care worker fatal shot inside clinic in the Memphis suburb of Collierville

COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A health care worker was fatally shot inside a clinic Tuesday in a suburb of Memphis, and a man was arrested in connection with the killing, police said.

The shooting took place in an exam room at the Campbell Clinic, Collierville Police Chief Dale Lane said in local reports.

The suspect had reportedly been at the clinic for several hours before the shooting, Lane said, adding that the attack involved only two people and there was no active shooter situation. A man with a gun was found five minutes after the shooting, the police chief said.
